Chorus Information

The Colonial Spirit Chorus is an award winning Sweet Adelines International show chorus comprised of women from many communities.  The chorus presents costumed, choreographed production numbers arranged for women’s four-part a cappella harmony.  They sing high energy ‘up-tunes’ and thoughtful, lyrical ballads.  They sing new tunes, old tunes, and show tunes.

The highly talented and enthusiastic chorus has performed at a variety of venues including the Topsfield Fair, Faneuil Hall Marketplace, the Pheasant Lane Mall, and the Stonehedge Inn.  The chorus also performs for a variety of social functions and club events.  The chorus has also gained recognition for their background vocal talent through radio broadcasts of a nationally released Christmas CD.  The Chorus competes annually at the Sweet Adelines regional competition held at the Springfield, Massachusetts Symphony Hall.

The chorus is an Acton chapter of Sweet Adelines International with their membership coming from many of the surrounding towns.   Sweet Adelines International is a worldwide, non-profit organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance.

Norma Murray is the Director of the chorus, which was chartered in 1997, and she has been a member of Sweet Adelines since 1976.  Norma has a B.S. and M.S. in Music Education and is also a private piano and theory instructor.

The Chorus rehearses at 7:15 on Thursday evenings at the Church of Good Shepherd, 164 Newtown Road- Acton, MA.
